Fox Hill

Fox Hill CC, Longmont. Frank Hummel, 1972.

If you ever play here in a shotgun, as I did, and you draw the sixth to start on, a word of advice: Take all the time you can on the range to make sure you are hitting your driver straight.

As with FCCC, all that really separates this course from one of the area’s munis is the upkeep that comes with the club being private—the layout and the design is fine but not special. The conditioning and general upkeep of the course over the years is what sets it apart.

Then again, maybe I’m not giving it a fair shake. When you make triple on your first hole of the day, that’s inevitably the thing that sticks in your head.
