Club West GC, Phoenix. Brian Whitcomb, 1993. NLE
Apart from my having played two of the best rounds of my life here, there’s really very little memorable or special about this course. The front nine played through homes, but they were further removed from most of the back nine, especially the last four holes, which played down and around a significant hill. I never really understood the concept of having two greens at the par-3 17th—neither was good enough to justify the oddity.
There have been a few efforts over the years to bring some kind of golf back to this site, but nothing that’s worked out yet.
