Bellair GC, Glendale. Red Lawrence with Jeff Hardin and Greg Nash, 1973. NLE
An 18-hole executive course notable for me only because it was the closest short course to my home when my wife was learning the game, so we played it often on summer afternoons. Don’t let the Red Lawrence name fool you, there’s nothing here to learn about golf course architecture.
I understand it has fallen into terrible conditions in recent years, which is a shame because even though it was nothing to write home about, this was a decent enough place to play the game, when in shape.
There were, apparently, plans to remodel the course, with Forrest Richardson doing the work, but the same developer who bought the course with those plans crashed and burned shortly thereafter and the course is now closed. A shame.
