Vistoso

GC at Vistoso, Tucson. Tom Weiskopf, 1995. NLE

This is a very tough desert target golf course, in the style of Troon North, though on less dramatic ground. It’s not particularly long, but the high handicapper is going to have a tough time here—forced carries, washes, close desert, and deep bunkers are all common. It’s got beautiful views and I loved playing here, but the only hole that really sticks in my mind was the drivable par 4 on the back where the yardage book says the green is in range but any idea of where to go is obscured by mesquite trees.

It closed in the summer of 2018 and though there have been a few attempts to get it sold and reopened none so far have proved successful.
