The Legacy GC, Phoenix. Gary Panks, 1999.
Built on an old farm, but you wouldn’t know it except for the silos they left standing beside the 18th fairway. Surrounded by homes that edge toward the too-close end of the spectrum, I nonetheless think mostly fondly of this course. There’s nothing novel here in terms of golf course design, but I think most of the holes set up nicely and there are both holes that give options and some interesting green surrounds. The Raven, also designed by Panks, is literally across the street and has no homes on it—but I’d still rather play here.
