Moon Valley CC, Phoenix. Dick Wilson and Bob Cupp, 1958.
If its known for anything, it is as the course where Annika Sorenstam shot 59 in an LPGA event some years ago. That history aside, this is a pretty plain course that benefits a lot from the enhanced conditioning and upkeep it gets as a private club. The layout is about as flat as they come, but there are some nice holes like the short par 4 3rd and the double dogleg 13th. Trees protecting houses immediately in front of the 17th tee make that hole very awkward from the back tees. This is a fine if unspectacular course. But don’t be fooled by Annika’s score—she’s better than you and this course is no pushover.
