Great Eagle

Great Eagle GC, Surprise. Ken Kavanaugh and Greg Nash, 1984.

A lot of Arizona courses play through homes and one thing you learn is that the quality of home is often a good indicator of the course’s quality. Having said that, I’ll note that the back nine at Great Eagle plays through a trailer park. The front nine is a little more open and the holes aren’t boring, but they feel very manufactured.

On many holes the cart path actually defines the edge of the fairway, which seems pretty awful until you get to the 15th where the path actually meanders down the middle of the fairway right in the landing area!
